Week 25 – Ethics

Learning Objective: To understand the reasoning behind peoples actions

Moral Dilemmas

You witness a car crash. The wreckage is burning but you may be able to save one of the two passengers. To your horror, you realise that one is your father and the other is a famous cancer specialist on the brink of a breakthrough.

Who do you save?

Students discussed their thoughts and opinions on who they think they should save. the majority of students explained that they would save their father as that was a close family member and they would have to be selfish in this situation.

It’s a trick one isn’t it!

What is being moral?

Something that is right and good.

Students were asked to think about what happens when people have differing ethis. They were asked to think of examples that involve interpersonal situation they’re likely o face such as whether to tell on a friend who is cheating on a school test.

What conflicts are created when a person follows his or her own sense of ethics and it imposes on the rights of others.
